Kyûsu, cockiness

A very harmonious kyûsu by Sekiryu (石龍), which playfully breaks this harmony through its random ornamentation and creates a pleasant tension.

This art is known as the mogake technique. Whereby strings of algae, applied to the raw ceramic, result in a random pattern that is unique for each object.

Because of its flat shape, this kyûsu is particularly suitable for Kabusecha or Gyokuro.

The second generation ceramic master, Sekiryu (石龍), born 1967 in Tokoname, has an excellent feeling for creation and perfection. His kyûsu is based on one hand on the tokonama tradition as well as looking ahead.
