This handcrafted Kyûsu was made by Uemura Hiroyuki from the Sekiryu oven in a muted green.
The potter master Uemura Hiroyuki, in the second generation, works very traditionally and precisely.
Uemura Hiroyuki was born in Tokoname in 1967 and learned the pottery at an early age. Today he is known under the name Sekiryû.
Tokoname-yaki (常 滑 焼) is a Japanese ceramic that traditionally comes from Tokoname in the Japanese prefecture of Aichi. Tokoname has been producing pottery since the 12th century, and one of Japan's six ancient kilns is located in it.
